1. Different concepts
Knitting is the process of using knitting needles to form coils of various raw materials and varieties of yarn, and then connecting them in series to form knitted fabrics.
Textile was originally taken from the general term of spinning and weaving, but with the continuous development and improvement of the textile knowledge system and disciplinary system, especially with the emergence of non-woven textile materials and three-dimensional composite weaving technologies, current textiles are not only traditional hand-spinning and weaving, but also include non-woven fabric technology, modern three-dimensional weaving technology, modern electrostatic nanomesh technology, and other production of clothing, industrial, and decorative textiles.
2. Different origins and developments
Knitting, the first hand knitting machine was invented by British pastor William Lee in 1589. In the 1870s, with the invention of electric motors, hand operated knitting machines were replaced by high-speed electric knitting machines.
Textile, a Chinese machine tool, originated from the spinning wheel and waist machine of the Neolithic period five thousand years ago. During the Western Zhou Dynasty, simple reeling carts, spinning carts, and weaving machines with traditional performance emerged one after another. During the Han Dynasty, jacquard looms and oblique looms were widely used. After the Tang Dynasty, China's textile machinery became increasingly perfect, greatly promoting the development of the textile industry.
